Tom Ingram scored his third win in a row – and his second of the weekend – in the penultimate British Touring Car Championship race of the season at Brands Hatch.
Having won in the opening race of the day, Team VERTU’s Ingram started from pole position and duly went on to record a lights-to-flag victory, never really being troubled by those behind him, with Ingram perhaps helped by the fact that the majority of the field was also running on the medium-compound tyre.
Toyota’s Josh Cook once again finished in second, the Speedworks Motorsport driver less than a second behind Ingram but unable to take the fight to the two-time champion.
The podium was completed by NAPA Racing UK’s Ash Sutton, who earned his 20th visit to the rostrum this season, equalling his record from his dominant 2023 season, although still short of the all-time record of 24 podiums by Jason Plato in 2001.
Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble finished in fourth after battling past WSR’s Daryl De Leon going up Hawthorn Hill on the final lap – despite De Leon squeezing the Audi driver onto the grass. In finishing the race, Doble clinched the Independent Drivers’ title for the first time.
De Leon was fifth, once again as the top BMW driver, ahead of NAPA’s Dan Cammish in sixth, who has now relinquished any hopes of finishing as the runner-up in the standings after Ingram’s win.
Team VERTU’s Ricky Collard was seventh, having gradually fallen back during the race, ahead of Power Maxed’s Aiden Moffat in eighth, with the latter having fallen back to the position by the end of lap four before running out of TOCA Turbo Boost by mid-distance.
The top ten was completed by the third Power Maxed Audi of Dexter Patterson and NAPA Racing UK’s Sam Osborne.
Three drivers were given five-second time penalties for exceeding track limits – Restart Racing duo Daniel Lloyd and Chris Smiley, and Toyota’s Ryan Bensley – dropping them to 17th, 19th and 20th respectively, losing Lloyd a tenth-place finish.
It was another disastrous race for Laser Tools Racing, with Árón Taylor-Smith being nudged into team-mate Gordon Shedden by WSR’s Charles Rainford whilst battling for 16th at Paddock Hill bend on lap six, resulting in the retirement of Shedden to the pits.
After the race, Ingram randomly drew the top nine to be reversed for the season finale, handing pole position to Patterson, with Moffat alongside, followed by Collard in third and Cammish in fourth etc.
