Toyota’s Josh Cook beat NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish to pole position for Saturday’s British Touring Car Championship qualifying race, with the Corolla driver two tenths quicker than his rival.

Cook left it until the last moment in the second group to post the fastest time of the afternoon, having lost his earlier efforts due to exceeding track limits.

The Bath-based driver ultimately prevailed for pole ahead of Cammish, who had topped the first qualifying group, before being told his lap time had been removed for him exceeding track limits, only for it to then be reinstated again by the time Group 2 had been completed.

Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble was third overall and the top Independent after following Cook, with Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram in fourth.

Ash Sutton had his best lap time disallowed at the very end, dropping him one place in his group but two overall and the point leader will thus start from fifth behind rival Ingram.

Laser Tools Racing’s Gordon Shedden was sixth overall, the Scot having topped the group 1 times with 40 seconds to go only to be usurped by Cammish and Ingram, ultimately leaving him sixth in the combined classification.

Aiden Moffat put his Power Maxed Audi in seventh, whilst the leading BMW was that of Daryl De Leon in eighth.

Both CPRL Mercedes’ lacked the pace they have shown in the past two meetings, in part due to reduced TOCA Turbo Boost by virtue of their higher championship position heading to North Yorkshire. Daniel Rowbottom was tenth, whilst Adam Morgan was 12th, albeit just 0.126 seconds slower than his team-mate despite having four more seconds of TTB available each lap.
