Mikey Doble converted the fastest time in qualifying into pole position in the Race to Pole at Silverstone, having battled past early leader Daryl De Leon on lap three.

The Power Maxed Racing driver had earlier in the afternoon been the fastest of all 23 drivers to claim the best starting position for the Qualifying Race, and although he didn’t get the best of starts when the lights went out, Doble was able to secure the win.

De Leon had used his rear-wheel drive advantage to get away from the line better than Doble, with the BMW driver in front before the first corner, whilst further back championship leader Ash Sutton was turned around by Laser Tools Racing’s Gordon Shedden exiting the first turn, with the Scot having in turn been squeezed by Tom Ingram.

Sutton fell to the back of the pack, having started from 17th anyway, avoiding any further contract.

The safety car was called for on lap eight when series rookie Osamu Kawashima fell off the circuit all on his own at Maggotts, the Team VERTU driver having already been 15 seconds adrift of the next car by this stage.

After four laps behind the safety car, racing resumed on lap 12, with Power Maxed Racing’s Aiden Moffat applying pressure to De Leon before getting past for second four laps later, handing Power Maxed Racing a 1-2 finish.

Team VERTU’s Tom Chilton completed the podium, also getting by De Leon on the penultimate lap, leaving the WSR driver to finish in fourth.

Restart Racing’s Daniel Lloyd was fifth, ahead of the top Toyota of Josh Cook in sixth.

WSR’s Charles Rainford fell to seventh, having started fourth, with CPRL’s Adam Morgan in eighth as the best Mercedes driver.

The top ten was completed by Laser Tools Racing duo Árón Taylor-Smith and Shedden.

Lewis Selby was the best NAPA Racing UK driver in 13th, although Sam Osborne had finished ahead on the road before 15 seconds of time penalties were applied – ten for a false start, and a further five for track limits exceedances.

Sutton was 14th, with NAPA team-mate Dan Cammish in 15th. Also penalised with five second penalties for exceeding track limits were Daniel Rowbottom, Lewis Gilbert, Nick Halstead and Nic Hamilton, with those drivers classified in 17th to 20th as a result.
