Tom Ingram secured the runner-up spot in the British Touring Car Championship with a double victory at the Brands Hatch season finale, although the two-time champion has already turned his attention to 2027.

Ingram went into the event just five points ahead of NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish in the drivers’ standings, but after finishing second in the qualifying race, authoritatively taking two race wins and crashing out of the finale, Ingram ended up comfortably securing second in the standings.

Despite having less boost than this rivals in the first two races on Sunday, Ingram took his win tally to 45 in the BTCC around a circuit where he has now claimed 11 wins in the championship.

The 33-year-old had to battle hard for the first victory though, as he went side-by-side with Aiden Moffat who had considerably more boost than Ingram.

After scoring an authoritative race two win with the least TOCA turbo Boost [TTB] in the field, the Team VERTU driver then ended his season in the barriers at Paddock Hill Bend in race three, after contact between two other drivers saw Ingram caught up as an innocent victim.

Whilst securing the runner-up spot means he has now finished either first or second in the drivers’ standings for five consecutive years, Ingram admits his attention has already turned to 2027.

“Our plan was to use Brands Hatch as a little bit of a testing opportunity to try out some of our theories for next year, while simultaneously aiming to finish the season on a high,” said Ingram.

“The car felt phenomenal all weekend, although we went into the ‘Race to Pole’ not really knowing where our pace was going to be, because the boost – or lack of it in our case – always makes a bigger difference in race trim than over a single lap, when you can counteract the deficit a bit more.

“We haven’t had an easy run of things in 2026, but Brands Hatch proved the pace and performance we’ve had all year, which through failures or issues or just sheer bad luck, we haven’t always been able to show.

“Clearly, these results came a bit too late and we made Ash [Sutton] and NAPA Racing’s life far too easy for them, but to take three wins on the bounce at Silverstone and Brands was fantastic and demonstrates what might have been.

“Massive credit to Team VERTU for staying positive and sticking with the programme. When we knew the championship was gone, it would have been very easy to switch off but we haven’t done that in the slightest.

“We kept working and immediately turned our attentions to 2027, when we fully intend to hit the ground running – and take that title back!”
